Waxing Aftercare Instructions
Proper aftercare is an important part of maintaining healthy, smooth skin and helping to prevent ingrown hairs, breakouts, irritation, and other reactions following your waxing service. Please follow these guidelines to help your skin heal properly and maintain your results.
Immediately After Your Wax
For the first 24 hours, your skin is more sensitive than usual. Please avoid:
Exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating
Hot tubs, saunas, and very hot showers
Direct sunlight and tanning beds
Products containing harsh chemicals, fragrances, or dyes
Friction or tight clothing on the waxed area
For Brazilian or Manzillian waxing, please avoid sexual activity for 24–48 hours to minimize irritation and allow the skin to properly recover.
If it is especially hot outside and you are unable to shower immediately after returning home, gently wipe down the area to remove excess sweat and keep the skin clean and comfortable.
You may apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer 24 hours after your appointment, provided the skin is no longer irritated or sensitive.
Exfoliation & Ingrown Hair Prevention
Begin exfoliating 3–5 days after your waxing appointment, once the skin is no longer tender or sensitive.
Regular exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells and can help prevent clogged pores and ingrown hairs. For the body, you may use an exfoliating glove, loofah, or body scrub along with a gentle body wash.
Avoid harsh scrubbing. The goal is to keep the skin clear without causing irritation.
I recommend avoiding bar soaps such as Dove on freshly waxed areas, as some formulas can leave a moisturizing residue or film that may contribute to clogged pores and ingrown hairs for some clients.
If you tend to sweat heavily or are prone to body breakouts, Head & Shoulders shampoo can be used as a body wash on areas prone to breakouts. Use it approximately 3–4 times per week, rather than daily, as overuse may cause dryness or irritation.
For the face, chest, and back, use a gentler exfoliant and an appropriate anti-breakout or ingrown-hair product. Ask me about my recommended post-wax ingrown-hair serums and products based on your skin type.
Sun & Tanning
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds immediately after waxing, especially while the skin is still red or sensitive.
Tanning beds: Wait at least 24–48 hours after waxing.
Spray tans: Wait approximately 12–24 hours after waxing to allow the skin to settle and reduce the chance of uneven results or irritation.
Underarm Waxing
After an underarm wax, avoid applying natural deodorants immediately following your service. Some natural deodorant formulas contain ingredients that may contribute to irritation or darkening of the underarm area.
Allow the skin to recover and choose a gentle, skin-friendly deodorant once the area is no longer sensitive.
A Final Reminder
Every person’s skin responds differently to waxing. Mild redness or sensitivity immediately after your service can be normal and should gradually subside.
If you experience unusual or persistent irritation, please reach out to me. I’m always happy to answer questions and help you determine the best aftercare routine for your skin.
Thank you for trusting me with your skincare and waxing needs. It was a pleasure meeting you, and I look forward to seeing you again!
